Established in 2018, National Move More Month was created by the American Heart Association to expand the impact of its National Walking Day campaign. This initiative encourages individuals to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives, fostering healthier routines that extend beyond a single day and lead to lasting lifestyle change.
Senior Fitness Wit Toi was both deliberate and intentional in relocating to our new, larger facility at Stony Point Fashion Park during this month; a direct reflection of the “Movement as Medicine” philosophy upon which our program was built. The American Heart Association encourages us all to move more. At Senior Fitness Wit Toi, we take it one step further and we treat movement as medicine. Because for older adults, movement isn’t just about fitness. It’s about staying out of the hospital, avoiding falls, and remaining independent at home. That’s what we deliver every day.
With this expansion, Senior Fitness Wit Toi is proud to introduce several new initiatives, including our evidence-based SFWT Walking Club, inspired by the principles of Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program. This program emphasizes three key components tp include walking, stretching, and strengthening all while guiding participants to gradually build endurance through safe, progressive movement.
Move More Month also brings exciting new group exercise offerings, including Ballroom Dancing, Zumba Gold, and Strength & Cardio Circuit classes. In addition, we are expanding access to low-impact cardio through the introduction of three new recumbent exercise machines. These will be available in 20-minute ride segments throughout the day, allowing members to spend more time in the space, connect socially, and accumulate meaningful movement in a way that feels approachable and sustainable.
With more opportunities to move, connect, and grow stronger together, we are deepening our commitment to helping older adults not only live longer — but live better, more independent lives through intentional, community-based movement.
